Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Small Signal Studio (“we”, “us”) handles information in connection with the TaleSnack mobile application on iOS and Android. TaleSnack delivers a shared daily short story matched to your target language and reading level so you can listen and read for a few minutes each day.
1. Who we are

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict personal data we hold, to object to certain processing, to data portability, to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and to complain to your local data-protection authority.
2. Account
TaleSnack requires an account so we can save your language, level, progress, and vocabulary across devices. Sign-in is provided through Supabase Auth (email and password, and optional Sign in with Google). We process:
- email address and authentication identifiers,
- account creation and last sign-in metadata,
- optional display name or monogram identity you set in the app.
Google sign-in is handled by Google and Supabase under their terms; we receive the identifiers needed to create or link your TaleSnack account.
3. Profile and learning data
To provide the service we store on our servers (and show in the app):
- target language and CEFR reading level,
- reading progress, quiz results, and streak / freeze state,
- saved vocabulary and related notebook activity,
- preferred daily reminder hour and notification timezone,
- Plus / premium entitlement flags synced from the stores (see Purchases).
With your permission we may register a push notification token for this device so we can send an optional daily reminder. You can change the hour in the app or revoke notification permission in system Settings.
4. AI-assisted stories and covers
Daily stories are drafted with generative AI (currently Anthropic Claude) on our backend and reviewed by our team before they ship. The main catalog is a shared story per language, level, and day — not a private story written from your personal prompts.
- We do not send your name, email, or personal profile fields to the story model for the shared daily catalog.
- Story generation runs on our servers using editorial parameters (language, CEFR, genre calendar), not your private notebook text.
- Cover images may be generated with image providers (for example fal.ai or Google image APIs) when those features are enabled in a given release.
Soft disclosure in the app and these pages is intentional. We do not claim that language experts wrote every line by hand.
5. Purchases (TaleSnack Plus)
Optional Plus subscriptions and restores are sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Entitlement status is managed with RevenueCat. We do not receive your full payment card details. Apple, Google, and RevenueCat process payment and subscription data under their own privacy policies.
6. Analytics and crash reports
When configured, we may use Sentry (or similar) for crashes and diagnostics so we can keep the app reliable. Events may include device / OS technical details and app version. Routine crash reports are not intended to include your story notebook contents or passwords.
7. Processors and platforms
Depending on the features you use, processors / platforms may include:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and related backend hosting;
- Our application servers — API, scheduling, and story pipeline;
- Anthropic — generative text for catalog drafts (server-side);
- Image providers (fal.ai and/or Google) — optional cover art;
- RevenueCat — subscription entitlements;
- Apple / Google — distribution, IAP, and push infrastructure;
- Sentry — crash and diagnostics when enabled;
- Email delivery (for example Resend) — account confirmation or transactional mail when used.
8. Children
TaleSnack is intended for a general audience of learners 13 years and older. It is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Retention
Account and learning data are retained while your account is active and as needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, and resolve disputes. You can delete your account in the app under Settings → Delete account (this removes your TaleSnack profile and associated learning data from our systems). You may also request deletion by contacting [email protected]. Push tokens are removed when you sign out or unregister the device. Diagnostic events follow the retention settings of our monitoring providers.
10. International transfers
Our providers may process data in the United States or other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards offered by those providers (such as standard contractual clauses) for transfers from the EEA/UK.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Material changes will be reflected here and, where appropriate, in the app.
