Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Small Signal Studio (“we”, “us”) handles information in connection with the Saff mobile application on iOS and Android. Saff is designed to keep precise location on your device and to collect only what is needed for optional features and reliability.
1. Who we are
Controller: Small Signal Studio.
Contact: Use the publisher contact details on the App Store or
Google Play listing for Saff, the
studio support page,
or email
[email protected].
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict personal data we hold, and to complain to your local data-protection authority.
2. No account required
Saff does not require you to create an account. Preferences such as language, notification settings, theme, and worship pause are stored on your device.
3. Local prayer & content reminders
With your permission, Saff schedules local notifications on your device (for example adhan and pre-adhan reminders, optional verse reminders, and Qur’an continue / hatim reminders). These alerts are planned and delivered by your phone’s operating system. Saff does not register a remote push token with our servers for these reminders, and reminder preferences stay on your device.
- Notification text may include a prayer name, a short timing cue, or a short scripture snippet from content already on your device — not a user profile or GPS coordinates.
- Optional Premium notification sounds are short audio files bundled in the app; choosing a sound only changes how your device plays the local alert.
- You can turn reminders off in Saff Settings or revoke notification permission in system Settings at any time.
4. Saving a share card to Photos
If you tap Save on a daily ayet or hadis share card, Saff writes that generated image to your device Photos library. The image stays on your device. Saff does not browse, upload, or read your other photos, and does not send share-card images to our servers.
- Saving requires your permission (Photos add-only on iOS).
- You can revoke Photos access in system Settings at any time.
- Sharing via the system share sheet (Instagram, WhatsApp, Messages) is handled by the operating system; those apps apply their own terms.
5. Prayer location (GPS)
With your permission, Saff uses precise GPS on your device to calculate prayer times and Qibla direction.
- Precise GPS coordinates are not uploaded for monetization and are not used to decide whether you can buy Premium.
- If you decline location permission, prayer times and Qibla may be unavailable or limited until a location is available.
6. Silent Solidarity / city presence (not in this release)
Silent Solidarity (city presence) is not enabled in the current App Store version, so Saff does not send a city code or presence heartbeat from this build. If we offer it in a later release, Saff may send to our servers:
- a country-and-city code (not precise GPS coordinates),
- your selected Saf row,
- the prayer and time slot, and
- a random app-generated device ID
This is used only to provide a city presence count and related presence features. Precise GPS coordinates are not included in these requests.
7. Saff Premium
Saff Premium is an optional paid subscription. Purchases and subscription management are handled by Apple App Store or Google Play under their terms. We do not receive your full payment card details.
In this release, list prices follow your App Store or Google Play storefront country (billing country from the store). In some storefronts Premium is unlocked at no charge based on that billing country — never IP geolocation and never by sending GPS off-device. Saff does not use your GPS location, IP address, or phone number to decide whether you can buy Premium. An optional one-time lifetime unlock may be offered alongside monthly and yearly membership.
8. Worship pause
The worship-pause setting (reminders only during hayd / nifas) stays on your device only. It is never synced to our servers. Saff does not collect hayd/nifas reasons. If diagnostics are enabled, we may record only that the pause control was turned on or off — without a reason or GPS coordinates.
9. Crash & usage monitoring (Sentry)
When configured, Saff uses Sentry to capture crashes, performance, and product events so we can keep the app reliable. Events may include:
- a random app-generated device ID,
- coarse context such as city code or feature used,
- device / OS technical details typical of crash reports.
This is pseudonymous technical data, not an anonymous public profile. Precise GPS coordinates are never sent. Session Replay may record masked app sessions when diagnostics are enabled (text and images are masked by default in our configuration).
10. Content & third-party services
Daily ayet and hadis, and the thin Qur’an reader, may load text and optional audio from content delivery networks (for example Arabic recitation audio). We do not place ads beside scripture.
Other processors / platforms that may process data on our behalf or as controllers of their own services include:
- Apple / Google — app distribution, notifications infrastructure, and in-app purchases;
- Supabase — backend for presence / API features when those features are used;
- Sentry — crash and diagnostics (as above).
11. Children
Saff is a general prayer companion and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Data retention
On-device preferences remain until you clear app data or uninstall. Server-side presence signals are short-lived (presence TTL on the order of under a minute for live counts). Diagnostic events are retained according to our Sentry project settings and operational need.
13. Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Material changes will be reflected here and, where appropriate, in the app.
